While walking into Safeco Field at around 6:45 I could tell that it was going to be a special night. The lights seemed to be shining a little brighter, the air had more electricity and I noticed there was a lot more smoke from the stadium grills and the smell of burgers was REALLY getting to me forcing me to devour about 3 of them but I digress. Last night WAS a special night and Mariners fans stepped up and showed respect to the man who had done something that no other Seattle Mariner had done previously in their 35 year history and that's pitch a perfect game.
Felix Hernandez did it last Wednesday afternoon and last night at Safeco Field the King's Court, which is usually a couple or 3 sections down the left field line full of Felix fanatics wearing yellow shirts and holding up K's cards for strikeouts. Last night, the ENTIRE stadium was transformed into the "Supreme Court" and everybody was decked out in yellow shirts and special K cards honoring the perfect game performance. Over 40,000 fans showing support for the man who made the history and for the team who by the way....has won 14 out of their last 15 games and since July 19th has the 3rd best record in all of baseball!
It was a great night for baseball and the city of Seattle and it was great to see everybody come together and show support for the Mariners. I was excited to be a part of it and just wanted to say GREAT JOB SEATTLE and CONGRATULATIONS to King Felix and the rest of the Mariners. Here's to continued success!
